Sénégal : La filière se fixe un objectif de 60 000 tonnes de coton*

La révélation a été faite par le Directeur général de la Sodéfitex , Mohamed Bachir Diop assisté de son staff en présence de M. Moussa Sabaly, président de la FNPC et du PCR Mamadou Bayo, lors du séminaire/ bilan organisé mardi dernier a Linkering ( chef lieu de CR) de localité située à 67km de Velingara / dans l’ arrondissement de Bonconto Ce fut l’occasion pour les différents acteurs de faire un diagnostic sans complaisance de l’ état des lieux, puis situer les responsabilités et dégager des pistes de solution pour la relance de la culture du coton au Sénégal.

Au cours des débats, les acteurs ont suggéré que les mauvais payeurs soient désormais sanctionnés pour éviter la cassure morale dans la caution solidaire. Aussi ont-ils sollicité la diminution du prix des intrants tout en déplorant la mauvaise répartition de la pluviométrie dans le temps et dans l’espace. Celle-ci a provoqué des poches de sécheresse dans les zones emblavée. C’est un facteur négatif qui a causé la baisse de la production cotonnière durant ses dernières campagnes au Sénégal. Le Directeur général de la Sodefitex remarque une production commercialisée de 18 000 tonnes seulement.

Celui-ci avait, auparavant, dégagé le profil de l’opération coton dans toutes ces composantes puis apporté des précisions aux problèmes soulevés, rappelant, au passage, l’engagement du chef de l’Etat dans la relance de la filière coton au Sénégal. Il a aussi annoncé l’augmentation du prix aux producteurs fixés à 195 francs le kg, avant d’inviter tous à s’inscrire d’avantage dans cette dynamique unitaire de mobilisation sociale pour atteindre les objectifs sur le terrain, au grand bonheur des populations.
